Situation

  • POLITICO Europe was launched in April 2015, following a joint-venture with Axel Springer. After the sudden passing of Stephen Brown, the previous EIC, the organisation was looking for someone who could win the hearts and minds of the newsroom during a difficult and emotional period, represent POLITICO externally and drive audience growth while assessing the possibility of further European expansion. 

Challenge

  • Create a more efficient and scalable newsroom structure, drive audience growth and develop fully integrated live journalism.  
  • Identify and harness strengths of POLITICO to form a coherent publishing strategy and find a special place for POLITICO Europe in the media marketplace to drive success. 

Result

  • Jamil Anderlini is an award-winning journalist, editor and published author whose expertise lies in global politics, policy and economics. A leader of people and a brand ambassador; he joined POLITICO Europe following 6 years as Asia Editor and member of the Editorial Board at the Financial Times. He was appointed Editor in Chief of POLITICO Europe in July 2021.
